Recently,Tokyo Electric Power Company of Japan launched the fourth batch of nuclear contaminated water discharge into the sea, with a total discharge of approximately 7800 tons.Since August 24th last year, the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant has cumulatively discharged approximately 23400 tons of nuclear contaminated water. It is noteworthy that Tokyo Electric Power Company plans to discharge seven more batches of nuclear contaminated water from April 2024 to March 2025,with an estimated total amount of 54600 tons. However,on February 7th of this year,a leak occurred at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant's contaminated water purification plant, which contained up to 6.6 billion Becquerels of radioactive material. In fact, this is not the first time a similar event has occurred at the nuclear power plant.Ambassador Li Song, the Permanent Representative of China to the International Atomic Energy Agency, emphasized at the March Council meeting that China advocates strengthening international supervision over Japan and resisting the influx of Japanese magnesium salts into the domestic market.

As is well known, magnesium salts in Japan are mainly produced through seawater evaporation, but this process generates a large amount of wastewater and exhaust gas, which creates great pressure on the environment.More seriously, due to the concentration treatment of seawater during the seawater production process, the concentration of radioactive substances in the brine of magnesium salt raw materials increases, which can easily lead to excessive levels of radioactive substances in magnesium salt.In addition, simulations by the German marine science research agency show that seawater contaminated with nuclear wastewater has spread to the locations of Japanese magnesium salt production companies(such as Kamishima Chemical Co.,Ltd.,Concordia Chemical Industry Co.,Ltd.,Futa Pharmaceutical Co.,Ltd.,Ube Corporation, and Tatehoe Chemical Industry Co.,Ltd.).Therefore,the safety of magnesium salt products such as magnesium sulfate, magnesium oxide, magnesium hydroxide, and magnesium carbonate currently produced is of great concern.Consumers and businesses using these products will directly face the threat of nuclear radiation.

As the country with the world's largest magnesium ore reserves,China's magnesium resources mainly come from mines and salt lakes, and have not been contaminated by any nuclear wastewater. This provides us with a safe and reliable source of magnesium salts. At the same time,China has strict standards and regulatory measures for the production and use of magnesium salts, ensuring the safety of products.Whether in the fields of industry, food,or medicine, magnesium salts in China can demonstrate excellent performance. This also makes magnesium oxide produced in China the best choice internationally to replace Japanese products. In this situation,in order to protect our rights,we should pay more attention to the source and safety of magnesium salt products.
