Confetti Balloons: How-to guide

CONFETTI BALLOONS are a great addition to any baby shower and will create a stunning backdrop that will wow your guests.

Our Balloons

Our baby shower confetti balloons are yellow in colour prior to inflation. They will become transparent when properly inflated and the latex has been stretched. Our balloons are suitable for both air and helium inflation. 

Air VS Helium

Filling a confetti balloon with air, is the easiest way to get your confetti to cling to the sides of your balloon but it will not allow it to float. 

Whereas helium will allow the balloon to float but due to it's innate characteristics, the confetti will pool at the bottom of the balloon - see our top tips to help this below.  Confetti balloons have a shorter float time due to the added weight of the confetti inside, so should be inflated as close to the event as possible.

Inflating Confetti Balloons with Air: 

1) Always inflate the balloons with a balloon pump.

We would not recommend inflating the balloons by mouth, due to the small parts inside. Warm moist air from your lungs can also result in condensation inside the balloon and will make them cloudy. If this does happen, don't despair as they should start to clear after 20-30 minutes.

2) Make sure the balloon is properly inflated

Our balloons are 12" and if not fully inflated may appear cloudy as the latex has not been stretched enough. Do not over-inflate as the balloon will pop.

3) Wake the confetti

Shake the balloons and rub all sides with a natural fabric such as a wool scarf or sock to create static and spread the confetti evenly.

Inflating Confetti Balloons with Helium: 

1) Use a mixture of air and helium

We recommend filling the balloons with a few puffs of air (balloon pump) and the rest helium. The air will help the confetti cling to the sides of the balloon and the helium will allow it to float. If you only use helium, you will find that the confetti will pool at the bottom of the balloon and it will be difficult to get it to stick.

2) Make sure the balloon is properly inflated

If a balloon is not inflated fully it may not float due to the weight of the confetti inside, this is one of the most common reasons for confetti balloons not floating. Do not over-inflate as the balloon will pop.

3) Wake the confetti

Shake the balloons and rub all sides with a natural fabric such as a wool scarf or sock to create static and spread the confetti evenly. If you are struggling to get the confetti to stick, you have not added enough air (balloon pump) and have too much helium inside the balloon.

FAQ's

Why is my balloon not floating?

Balloons need helium to float. If your balloon is not inflated fully this may be the reason that it is not floating. Alternatively there could be too much air and not enough helium, so the balloon is not able to lift. 

Why is my balloon misty and not clear?

We recommend using a balloon pump to prevent the build up of condensation inside the balloon. If you have inflated the balloons with air from your lungs it will appear misty due to the condensation, this should clear after 20-30 minutes. After a few days a balloon will start to become misty due to the oxidation process. 

Why are my helium filled balloons starting to drop?

Confetti balloons have a shorter float time due to the weight of the confetti, so will not last as long as normal balloons. We recommend inflating them just before the event.

Different temperatures and humidities can reduce a balloons float time.  We suggest keeping the balloons in a room with an even temperature. The confetti balloons will deflate slightly in cold air and excessive heat can cause helium to expand and burst the balloon.

What is hi-float and do I need to use it?

 Hi-float is a fantastic liquid solution which forms a coating and helps helium inflated balloons float for longer. We do not recommend using hi-float for confetti balloons, as if not used correctly it will make your confetti clump and will not spread evenly inside the balloon.
