Domsel Seals

Domsel Oil Seals are sealing elements that are used for moving machine parts. The advantage of a domsel seal is that a domsel seal generates 50 to 60 percent less release heat compared to traditional shaft seals. Due to the design with a metal support ring of the relatively short sealing lip, a pressure range of 5 to 10 bar is obtained. The sealing lip on the Domsel seal is significantly more flexible, as there is no need in the design to reinforce or support the lip profile for a spring. The sealing lip closes more easily without any gap on the surface of the machine part to be sealed and even real running errors such as static and dynamic eccentricity still results in a good seal. The sealing lip may leave marks on precision turned shafts, but will not cause scratches.

Material

The dome seals are made in different materials. The materials used for the sealing lip are often NBR and FKM. The material of the housing is often made of steel or stainless steel. Domsel seals can withstand temperatures between -20 to + 100 °C. Furthermore, the seals are resistant to mineral oils, greases, washing liquids, water and seawater

Different types

Domsel Oil Seals are available in different types:

Type A:

  • The sealing lip points to the mounting direction
  • applicable for standard, trouble-free sealing points

Type B:

  • The sealing lip faces away from the mounting direction
  • Applicable for standard, unproblematic sealing points

Type AB:

  • The sealing lips face the mounting direction
  • Applicable for sealing compressed air and gases. Heavy duty seal with low lubrication

Type AC:

  • The sealing lips face and away from the mounting direction
  • Applicable for keeping two media well separated

Type BC:

  • The sealing lip faces away from the mounting direction
  • Applicable for keeping two media well separated
