1. Pump head

Q-H: the curve of horizontal slurry pump is an irregular curve, and the head decreases with the increase of flow.


2. Pump efficiency

Q- η: There is a highest point on the curve of horizontal slurry pump, that is, the highest efficiency point of centrifugal pump. It is the most economical working point of the pump. The area around this point (generally not less than 10% of the maximum efficiency point) belongs to the area with high efficiency. When selecting the shape of the pump, the flow and head required by the design of the pump station shall fall within the range of the high efficiency section.


3. Shaft power

Q-n: different positions on the curve of horizontal slurry pump represent the shaft power value of the pump at different flows. When selecting the output power of the motor matched with the water pump, the power slightly higher than the shaft power of the water pump must be selected according to the working condition of the water pump, so as to avoid accidents such as overload and burning of the motor caused by small machine dragging large pump in actual operation. At the same time, it also avoids the motor with too high power, so that the capacity of the motor can not be fully utilized, so as to reduce the efficiency and power factor of the motor.


4. Liquid viscosity

The characteristic curve of the water pump is related to the viscosity delivered by the water pump. The greater the viscosity, the greater the energy loss in the pump body, the smaller the head and flow of the water pump, the lower the efficiency, and the shaft power increases.
